How To Teach a 5 to 10 Year Old To Draw a Person
Take a quick look at your student’s or child’s drawing of a person and ask the obvious questions: Is the figure doing something like running, bending, or jumping? If we approach figure drawing with a basic model, all of these questions can have a ‘right’ answer.

Now Let’s Take a ‘STEP’
After 10 or 15 practice drawings of the basic Artabet model, you’ll be ready to teach a 5- to 10-year-old how to draw a person standing in what we might call the first position, and then move on to the next step, which is to make a motion and add drama by making your person look like it’s going somewhere.
