How to Draw Water in Nature
Water is difficult to draw because we can only see it through its interactions with nearby objects and it does not appear to be an object in and of itself. However, “tricky” does not equal “impossible” – with the right technique, you can create believable water using only pencils!
The closer the waves are to the canvas’ edge, the tighter they should be – no more than 3cm (0.01in).
Draw thick lines or thin lines between the white areas between the shapes to show how they compare to one another.
To darken parts of the shapes, use the softest pencil and press firmly; if your object is bright, darken the parts outside of its reflection.
1. Draw a star and use colored pencils to fill in the blank spaces between the dark shapes.
To create an image of this effect for your computer or tablet, first we need something that will be reflected in the water. You can use my tutorials on how to draw trees, grass, and ground to create an image of this effect.
When you’re close to the shore, press harder to make the line between water and land more visible.
To begin, we’ll need to build a foundation for it, which will be a pile of rocks. You can learn more about how to draw grass, ground, and rocks in my tutorial How to Draw Grass, Ground, and Rocks.
Draw the streams as ‘V’s instead of simple vertical lines in the “vertical” parts, and use an eraser to lighten some shaded parts of the lake if necessary.
For this task, use a softer pencil.
What is used to draw water from a well?
Water can also be injected back into the aquifer through the well, which is drawn up by a pump or containers raised mechanically or by hand. Deeper wells can be excavated by hand drilling methods or machine drilling, which uses a bit in a borehole.
