# honour

Photoshop Nation employs a system called "Honour" to discourage "friendly" or "unfriendly" voting phenomenon.

An entry has 10 votes assigned as follows:

voter 1 assigned 35 points - Voter honour 100

voter 2 assigned 55 points - Voter honour 64

voter 3 assigned 48 points - Voter honour 96

voter 4 assigned 88 points - Voter honour 90

voter 5 assigned 65 points - Voter honour 99

voter 6 assigned 28 points - Voter honour 90

voter 7 assigned 58 points - Voter honour 95

voter 8 assigned 55 points - Voter honour 54

voter 9 assigned 57 points - Voter honour 90

voter 10 assigned 60 points - Voter honour 92

Now we calculate the average honour (AVH) for this entry by gathering the voters' honour and discarding the top and bottom 20% (in this case 2 from the top and 2 from the bottom), like so:

[100,99] discarded

[64,54] discarded

[96,95,92,90,90,90] used to obtain the AVH

so AVH = (96+95+92+90+90+90)/6= 92.16

Now we gather the points of those votes with honour equal or higher than 92.16:

voter 1 assigned 35 points - Voter honour 100

voter 3 assigned 48 points - Voter honour 96

voter 5 assigned 65 points - Voter honour 99

voter 7 assigned 58 points - Voter honour 95

With this group of scores we obtain the entry's APV

so APV= (35+48+65+58)/4= 51.5

Now we compare each vote with the APV:

voter 1 assigned 35 points - 51.5-35=16.5 is considered a fair vote, will receive a honour bonus of .05

voter 2 assigned 55 points - 55-51.5=3.5 is considered a fair vote, will receive a honour bonus of .05

voter 3 assigned 48 points - 51.5-48=3.5 is considered a fair vote, will receive a honour bonus of .05

voter 4 assigned 88 points - 88-51.5=36.5 is considered a bad vote, will receive a honour penalty of 2.92

voter 5 assigned 65 points - 65-51.5=13.5 is considered a fair vote, will receive a honour bonus of .05

voter 6 assigned 28 points - 51.5-28=23.5 is considered a bad vote, will receive a honour penalty of 1.88

voter 7 assigned 58 points - 58-51.5=6.5 is considered a fair vote, will receive a honour bonus of .05

voter 8 assigned 55 points - 55-51.5=3.5 is considered a fair vote, will receive a honour bonus of .05

voter 9 assigned 57 points - 57-51.5=5.5 is considered a fair vote, will receive a honour bonus of .05

voter 10 assigned 60 points - 60-51.5=8.5 is considered a fair vote, will receive a honour bonus of .05

Honour can range from 1 to 100. Cannot go below 1 and above 100.

Once one's honour drops to 70 or below a honour penalty will be proportionally assigned to one's future entries, up to a maximum of 30% of the entry's real score. (See "Scoring and Final standing calculations" in "Contests" F.a.q.)

It's easier to lose honour than to gain it back, so be mindful when voting.

- Every citizen starts with 100 points of Honour at the moment of registration.
- Any time one votes on an entry, one's honour score (HS)) will be attached to that vote.
- At the end of a contest an average voting honour (AVH) is calculated for each entry: the honour scores (HS) assigned with each vote are gathered in a group. From this group the top and bottom 20% HS will be discarded.
- An average voting honour (AVH) is obtained with the remaining HS. Now that the system has the AVH for a particular entry, it will compare every entry's votes HS with the AVH and discard any vote that has a lower HS than the AVH.
- With this group of votes the system then obtains an average of the points assigned (APV).
- So the higher your honour, the more your vote will count in determining an entry's APV.
- It then proceeds to compare the APV with each of the entry's votes thus determining which votes aer "fair" or "bad".
- One's points assigned with a vote can differ plus or minus 20 points from the APV.
- If the difference is higher than 20 points a honour penalty (HP) is assigned to that vote, in the magnitude of 8% of the difference, so the higher the difference, the higher the penalty.
- If, in turn, the vote falls in the +-20 points range, it is considered "fair" and no HP is assigned, instead a honour bonus (HB) of .05 points is assigned.
- Once all HPs and HBs are determined, the system then proceeds to update every voter's honour by first adding all the HBs then subtracting the HPs.
