How to Draw Ryu from Street Fighter
Ryu is one of the main characters in the fighting game Street Fighter, and he was the first character in the series’ very first game. His style is similar to that of Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat.
Look at a drawing lesson about Captain America to get an idea of Ryu’s proportions; he has a similar physique to the superhero, and the rules listed in the first phase of the lesson apply well to the current lesson.
Ryu has a V-shaped torso, which gives him the appearance of being fat, with a triangle-shaped groin and cylinder-shaped legs. The upper side of his neck looks as if his head is practically sticking out of his shoulders.
We’ve drawn a silhouette of Ryu from top to bottom, and now we’ll add details in the same direction. Ryu’s (and the entire Street Fighter) drawing style is similar to Chun-Li and Kazuyoshi Sakaguchi’s.
In this step, we’ll add more detail to Ryu’s face by thickening and darkening his brows, correcting the lines of his face, drawing the pupil inside the eye, and adding wrinkles, as well as drawing the lines of his neck muscles with a couple of simple lines.
This week’s lesson is all about Street Fighter, specifically how to draw Ryu from Street Fighter. Using clean and confident lines, draw the contours of the gi (don’t forget the collar). Practice makes perfect, so draw Ryu in various poses and try to achieve perfection.
