How to Draw a Tiger Face & Head Step by Step – EasyDrawingTips
This tutorial will show you how to draw a tiger’s face and head from start to finish, from a line drawing to basic beginner-friendly shading. If you want to make it even easier, skip to step five (a line drawing with dark fill for the stripes, eyes, and nose).
Step 1 – Make a Construction Line Drawing of the Overall Shape of the Tiger’s Head
Draw a highly simplified version of the major shapes of the tiger’s head without any of the small details; keep the lines light for this stage of the drawing because you’ll have to erase the majority of them later.
Step 2 – Facial Features Outline Drawing
Make a line drawing of the outline shapes of the tiger’s facial features using the guide lines from the previous step, being careful to make very light lines as you will need to remove some of them, as well as some of the animal’s eyes and ears.
Step 3 – Basic Line Drawing
Beginning with the eyes, pupils, and nose, draw a basic line drawing of a tiger’s face, shading in the darker areas of the eyes and nose with a solid dark fill to give the tiger’s face an animal-like appearance.
Step 4 – Detailed Line Drawing
Draw a tiger’s face line and some hints of fur along the outer edges of its head and inside the ears, in a “small clump” of varying shapes and sizes. Next, draw in the outer shapes of the stripes.
Step 5 – Basic Shading
Draw a tiger face with basic shading using one-directional strokes of varying lengths and some whiskers from the “whisker lines” around the mouth area. When you’re finished, you can either leave the drawing as is or continue to the next step.
Step 6 – Fully Shaded Drawing
You’ll want to show some basic light and shadow on the tiger’s face, and you can add some light shading to the darker fur areas to really make the drawing stand out. You can also darken the inside of the ears by adding more strokes to that area.
One of the most difficult things to draw is a tiger’s face; this tutorial has been simplified to make it a little easier and more beginner friendly while still allowing you to draw a fairly realistic looking tiger. For another similar tutorial, see:.
