How to Draw a Person Lying Down
Foreshortening is a distortion in figurative relationships or proportion that is often created when the figure is viewed from an extreme such as a “worm’s eye” view.

If you LAY YOURSELF ( direct object ) in bed, you will be LYING in bed = If you PLACE YOURSELF in bed, you will be RECLINING in bed. Lie does not require a direct object (the thing being acted upon or the receiver of the action).
