Learn How to Draw Anime Eyes in 9 Simple Steps | Udemy Blog
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to draw anime eyes to help you build a solid foundation in manga art style. We use the ‘drawing workflow’ primarily for the rough stage and keep it in mind for the clean-up step.
Keep it natural and natural-looking with no extra fluff or flakiness, and don’t add too many lash lines.
To show how close the eyelids are to each other, draw a small “eyelid crease”; you can also draw a full eyelid line, but this implied indicator line is a good loose approach for drawing eyelids on a computer screen.
Draw the iris in a circular shape; different eye expressions show different amounts of this circular shape; for our base learning, keep the top section of the shape hidden beneath the eyelid, and make the top lines thicker and taper thinner.
To indicate whether the flower is about to open or close, draw a small lower lid indicator line at the bottom of the iris.
To bring the pupil into focus, draw in the pupil and add some light cross-hatching lines.
Draw an upper eyelid shadow, making sure the shape tapers to the inner side, and shading the iris shape as well as the outer edge of the eye at this point.
Keep the thickest and darkest lines for the eyes only; noses are simply drawn as L-like shapes high on the face, just below the eyes; and mouth expressions can be drawn as flat forms rather than 3D forms, depending on the style.
