How to Draw a Husky Dog (15 Steps) | Drawing Dog
We’ll show you how to draw a Siberian Husky in under 15 steps in this tutorial. Commonly found in Alaska and Northern America, Siberian Huskies are the closest relatives of all dog breeds to wolves. Their thick fur keeps them warm in the cold Northern climate, and they enjoy traveling in packs.
To guide your drawing, start with a reference photo of a Husky, just like we did with our realistic dog eyes tutorial.
Step 1: Draw three circles, one for the head and two for the body; if you need help drawing a dog, check out our beginner’s guide to drawing a dog.
Create a reference grid, then draw two pointy, wolf-like ears on top of each other, aligning them with the reference grid to ensure they’re in the right place and facing the right way.
Draw a picture of a dog sitting in the snow with three lines for the legs: the front two longs are just two rough straight lines, the other two lines are for the arms, and the third line is for the nose.
Add some meat to those leg lines from step 5 to finish off your Husky’s legs.
Draw an oval-shaped nose and a curved line for the snout, using the reference grid on the face as a guide.
Outline the open mouth. Because the Siberian Husky in our illustration is happy, we’ll add a nice smile.
Draw in the tongue; when a dog is overjoyed, his tongue sticks out of his mouth, just as it does in this illustration.
Add two almond-shaped eyes to the ear holes, with the right eye being smaller than the left because it’s further away. Next, add some basic fur details to the ear holes.
Shade in the dark fur with your light pencil. Sketch in the dark fur on your husky dog with your light pencil.
Outline the tail, which should be a short, thick tail that sits on top of the snow in the back.
Sketch in the fur all over your Husky’s body, including the tail and face, with short and light pencil strokes.
Draw some snow around your Husky dog’s legs and in the background with your light pencil, then outline the fur of your Husky with a darker pencil so it stands out in the snow.
Draw in more snow and smudge in some dark shadows under your dog with your finger. You can also smudge in some light shadows in the background for the snow.
