6 Easy Ways to Draw a Christmas Tree
Grab a few markers (I recommend green and brown) and join me as we look at six simple ways to draw Christmas trees that require no real artistic skills at all. Even young kids can enjoy making these various trees and using them to decorate cards, gift tags, and more.
1. TRIPLE TRIANGLES
Simply stack three triangles on top of each other to form the tree’s body; you can change the shape and appearance by overlapping the triangles a lot or not at all, or by adding garland, ornaments, or anything else.
2. ZIG ZAG TREE
Create a zigzag tree by drawing a line that goes back and forth, widening from top to bottom.
3. MODERN CURVES
Draw 4-5 rows of curved lines, each one larger than the one above it, and for the trunk, I drew a rectangle that’s slightly angled on top to match the shape of the lines.
4. LOTS OF LINES
Draw a series of horizontal lines and a vertical line for the trunk, overlapping some of the lines and not worrying about perfect alignment. Real trees are imperfect, so yours can be too – it’s all in the perspective.
5. SCALLOPED LAYERS
To begin, draw an upside down “v” shape with three small bumps across the bottom, followed by a line with four bumps/scallops for the next layer.
6. NEGATIVE SPACE DESIGNS
This is one of the simplest ways to draw a Christmas tree because it employs the concept of negative space, or the use of areas that are devoid of color to create something visually appealing. If you can draw triangles, lines, and rectangles, you can create any of these six tree styles.
